Hard Arkansas is most suitable for fine polishing and maintenance of a fine edge on knives or tools, and should be used as a follow up to a coarser stone (like Soft Arkansas). Many will stop the sharpening/polishing process with this stone, while others will graduate to Surgical Black or Translucent Arkansas to get the ultimate in smoothness and sheen. Hard Arkansas stones are popular among woodcrafters and a variety of industries including the dental industry. All stones are 2" - 3" wide x 1" or 1/2" thick. The 1" thick bench stoned provides an elevated work surface for ease of use. All bench stones come with a custom wooden box for storage.
